THANK YOU TO EVERYBODY WHO CARED ENUGH TO DONATE OR ADOPT !!! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU !!!

Since we are now aware of the number of Minis that are actually being neglected and abused, we will try to keep rescuing Minis !!! So if you might be interested in adopting in the future, please contact us and/or get on the waiting list....

We know of some standard donkeys in need of homes - they are safe for now, but need homes !!

We went to an auction on 2-23-2008 and returned with 9 lost souls... There were hundreds of donkeys and Mini horses at this auction, as well as several OBVIOUS horse traders, backyard-breeders, etc. Out of all these horses and donkeys, we ended up taking the old, injured, crippled, sick, neglected, not-so-perfect and/or others that nobody wanted. We are convinced that these 9 angels have never seen a farrier or Vet, and that they were never given the chance to find out that humans can provide love, attention, comfort and quality care, and not only cause stress, pain or fear....

Out of those 9, only 3-5 would be ready to go soon. The others have weeks or even months of much needed rehab and/or pregnancy and giving birth ahead of them.

We need qualified and committed homes for these poor souls, and we would also like to ask for donations for their Vet- and farrier bills, medications, supplements and to help with much needed alterations to the barn, fence, waterer, etc. to make everything suitable and safe for these little ones, for a longer period of time than first anticipated.

We are also hoping for donations to help 2 very special "girls", so they can either stay here forever, or can be euthanized if they can't be saved....

The first one is GRANNY - a 17-yo Mini mare that was used as a breeding machine her entire life. Her hooves are like Elf-shoes, her joints out of place, trying to make up for the deformed and overgrown hooves. Infested with worms and lice, foundered, skinny, scared and possibly pregnant.... She is in so much pain that she can't even walk - she either stands in one place, or she lies down and stays down until she gets too thirsty and has to get up and drink. The farrier will be here TODAY to get started on her hooves, and to let us know if there is even a chance to save her....                        UPDATE 2/25/2008: Granny was trimmed as good as possible. She is foundered real bad, dropped soles, abcesses, infections, and so on - worse than we thought. But we will try to save her while keeping her as comfortable as possible. She is on Antibiotics and pain medication, and on 2/29/2008 the Vet will be out for a further exam. UPDATE 2/29/2008: Granny will need to be kept on a special diet and will need regular trimming, but we will be able to keep her comfortable. SHE IS IN NO CONDITION TO TRAVEL, AND WON'T BE FOR A LONG TIME, SO SHE WILL RETIRE AT LHR AND WILL BE WITH HER LAST FOAL FOREVER !!

The 2nd one is THIN LIZZY - a Mammoth donkey. Emaciated, crippled (had a broken back), deformed and overgrown hooves, messed up joints, infested with worms and lice, and SCARED to death....... UPDATE 2/29/2008: Sadly, THIN LIZZY has to deal with a lot of birth defects, old injuries and serious neglect. She is only 3-4 years old........  **ADOPTED**

TWINKIE & JERRY - Mini Donkeys, born June/July 2007 - not for adoption yet, they will stay here with Granny for now. Twinkie and Jerry couldn't be gelded as planned, they are not mature enough yet, so we will have to wait a few months and then try again !  **PENDING**

All these Minis wear a halter, they have been trimmed, wormed and Coggins tested without major problems, they respond to treats and food, are curious and friendly, but they are still hard to catch and NOT considered halter-trained !! They will need some daily one-on-one attention at their new homes to gain their trust and turn them into the love-muffins they want to be !!!!!!

The following photos will tell more than a 1000 words - and please keep in mind that all of these 9 horses and donkeys were trailered to auction, run through the feedlot, separated from other horses and donkeys they knew, forced to RUN through the auction ring, then run back out to the feedlot-pens.......   PLEASE HELP !!
