Foster mom about Annie's training 10/6/2009: "Annie is doing amazingly well on the ground. She leads like a dream, does yield to pressure and you can send her by basically just pointing in the direction you want her to go with minimal pressure. She has come such a long way, but she will need to continue to be worked with to reinforce her great start..... She is very smart and learns quickly."

May-2009 (shortly before foaling)
Annie came from an ex-PMU farm in April. She foaled on 5/12/2009. The foal was healthy, but she had complications due to a retained placenta. She was under veterinary care, treatment and medications for a week and then got the "all clear" from the Vet. No health issues resulted from that as far as the Vet was able to tell, and since the adoption agreement doesn't allow breeding anyway, it shouldn't really matter for the future. However, I want her future adopter to know about it !!! Annie was really skinny when she arrived here (which could have caused the complications), but has been gaining weight, especially since her foal started to eat on his own. Her foal got adopted, and the adopter in MO agreed to take foal and mom together and foster Annie until the baby is weaned. (THANK YOU, Pam !!!)
